NEW DESIGN FOR CARDMIX

a lovely parcel of samples from cardmix arrived recently featuring a few dozen of the matryoshka cards i designed for them earlier in the year. it has been used as a blank any occasion card.

i did a craft fair last sunday which was really lovely and despite awful weather was packed with visitors. i thought whilst i had my stall all laid out nicely i'd take the chance to take some photos of some of my latest craft and design.

anniversary card

it was my brother's wedding anniversary this week - so i made him a card that was a re-design of his 2nd anniversary card. maybe i will just change the colours and ammend it slightly each year?

a shower curtain i did for sainsbury's seen in store for the first time and im pretty pleased with how it came out. and below my cardmix christmas cards spotted on sale in fenwicks on bond street, london.

XMAS 2009.... for cardmix

i recently received a very exciting box of samples from 'cardmix' featuring some of the christmas designs i created for them. i had already seen a couple of them earlier in the year at the spring fair, but it was great to have actual samples of my own and see the glitter effects they've added. two are themed on japanese kawaii and the others are based on doileys. they'll be out in the shops this winter.

SPOTTED IN .....sainsbury's

i spotted one of my 'sea creatures' patterns in sainsbury's last week. i designed this for them a while ago so it was great to see it in store at last.

PG MAGAZINE - featuring inkjet designs

i was lucky enough to be featured on the artsource pages of 'progressive greetings' magazine last month. this is the magazine for the greetings card industry in the UK.

GREETINGS CARD SHOW

i will be a "progressive greetings" in london this week, looking at all the beautiful cards and admiring the work of my favourite card companies. its a brand new trade show dedicated solely to greetings cards.i will also have my portfolio with me for any enquiries.

TEA TOWELS

the prototypes of my tea towel designs arrived last week, i have a whole kitchen range based around this design and thought these samples might help me to find an interested company. just need to get them neatly ironed and looking presentable.

INKJET - for target

i finally managed to track down my second children's placemat design. i originally created it for american giants 'target'. this was the boys design featuring aeroplanes, and the girls had the owls which i posted last month.

SCRAPBOOK INSPIRATIONS - featured

my first ever scrapbook collection is featured in this months issue of "scrapbook inspirations" magazine. i have them listed on etsy and in my greetings card shop.

ive also designed these clear stamps to go with my scrapbook kit - made by sultane france. its funny to see my motifs on a different material.

M&S TIGERPRINT COMPETITION

i was so thrilled the other day to see that my mother's day card design, above, was a runner-up in the tigerprint for marks & spencer's competition. its the third time ive been lucky enough to be a runner-up, first in easter 2007 and then xmas 2008 (pics below). so i although i feel im always the bridesmaid and never the bride i also feel inspired to carry on and see if i can do better. i love the way tigerprint give you a really great brief and working to their deadlines provides a fantastic discipline. plus its fun too, waiting to hear the results.

MOTHER'S DAY CARD

i thought i'd post up the card ive made for my own mum this year. i took floral elements from some of my other mother's day designs and added my mums favourite motif - shoes. the shoes were drawn in outline only, and then using beads from my jewellery making i glued them onto the shoes using pva glue.

INKJET DESIGNS - for target

i finally got my hands on one of the placemats i designed for target, and took a few snapshots. the quality of printing and stitching is excellent. one side of the mat has a chalkboard and a little pocket to keep the chalks in. this cute little invention was the idea of sam & bellie, and target took up the idea and commissioned an exclusive range. i designed the owl print with girls in mind, and somewhere there is a boys design which hasnt yet appeared featuring aeroplanes.

CUSTOM FABRIC - spoonflower

ive been a spoonflower member for ages - but it was only a few weeks ago that i finally tested the system and ordered my first yard of custom fabric. i had an idea that i wanted to make some fabric covered pocket mirrors. it was a shock at first to see the differences in colour from my artwork to the fabric - but after a few minutes i realised i loved it anyway. for future orders i'll need to be cautious about using pale pink and acid lime green as these seem to have been the most effected. i cannot recommend spoonflower enough though - its brilliant.

CUSTOM FABRICS - rosa blue

i use a lot of fabric tote bags for shopping, exhibitions, and ferrying parcels to the post office so it was great to try out the custom service of rosa blue's fabric press. you simply upload your design and they print the fabric and turn it into a sturdy bag - all within two weeks.

INKJET FOR TARGET

i know its not quite the same as orla kiely for target, but i was so thrilled recently to see the childrens placemat i designed exclusivley for target last year had now appeared on their website. i designed this owl one for girls and another one featuring aeroplanes for boys. but as yet the boys one hasnt surfaced. maybe they decided not to use it.

ZAZZLE EXPERIMENT - keds

i designed these keds plimsolls on zazzle for my sister in law lisa's christmas present. the theme was a sort of japanese blossom, neon tokyo, a font like 'the killers' and with a nod to adidas' iconic stripes.

i was asked to create a pattern for a display kitchen. the idea was to create a really eye catching design to go in a showroom window. the kitchen was made by 'alno' in germany.
